The new cooker is a stunner: dual-fuel, five gas flames, and a programmable stove with USB connectivity. Okay, the thing about USB I made up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the next product revision had it. After another day of toiling with boxes, we thought we’d fix ourselves a nice dinner, but by then it was too late to go shopping for anything to cook. So we got on our bicycles instead, rode down to the Pont Lafayette and had pizza in a nice riverside café. Summer in Lyon is just beautiful.

Tomorrow we’re off on a two-legged trip to Bochum. We’ll stop over in Bonn and stay with Birgit’s old friend Frau L., who we haven’t seen for too long a time. In fact, the last time we saw Frau L. was the day when Germany played Argentina on home ground in the football World Cup 2006 (4:2 after penalties).

On Sunday we’ll reunite with the children. It was good that they could stay with their grandparents during the move, but we miss them all the time and look forward to having them around us again and to taking them back to our new place.
