First “night out”

10 August 2009

We arrived in Gilly-les-Citeaux fairly late in the evening and very hungry. The village was so quiet that we didn’t think we’d find food any more. But then we discovered the Château de Gilly, where they served us a fantastic set menu of specialities of Burgundy. Birgit got a compliment from a waiter for her heroic attempts at speaking French. Now she’s smitten. The farewell from Ascot in the morning was sad and difficult, but on our first day France has pleasantly surprised us.
